Pennsylvania is a critical battleground state for Donald Trump and Kamala Harris. Three days before Election Day, the Republican nominee will reportedly use a college football game for one last campaign opportunity.
Per Ross Dellgenger of Yahoo Sports, Trump will attend a Big Ten matchup between Ohio State and Penn State at Beaver Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 2. On Sunday night, he went to another football game inside the pivotal swing state between the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Jets.
Trump’s presence will obviously be divisive. However, most people agree that the extra security steps will create a hassle for everyone else going to University Park.
“Not a political tweet: I dont really get the point of going to games as a candidate,” Shehan Jeyarajah
said. “… Just makes security miserable with no benefits.
“As if traffic wasn’t already a nightmare getting to Beaver Stadium. I will plan to be there at 6 a.m.,” Dillon Davis wrote.
“This game was already going to be insufferable enough with the ads,” a fan wrote of a matchup that will air on FOX.
“I’ll bet Trump can’t even spell Pennsylvania,” a fan quipped.
This isn’t Trump’s first college football game of the season. He also attended Alabama’s 41-34 win over Georgia last month.
With most polls projecting a tight race, Trump will look to generate some goodwill at a matchup that could have massive conference and College Football Playoff implications. Don’t expect him to invite running mate JD Vance, an Ohio State alum.
This decision comes amid more headlines Trump will want to erase from the news cycle.
His former chief of staff, John Kelly, told The New York Times that Trump allegedly said Adolf Hitler “did some good things.” Kelly, a retired U.S. Marine Corps general, said the 78-year-old “certainly prefers the dictator approach.”
Another woman also came forward to accuse Trump of sexual assault, claiming she met him through convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.
