Former Penn State basketball star Joe Crispin is reportedly joining the Nittany Lions’ new coaching staff under recently-hired head coach Mike Rhoades, per Lions247.
Crispin was a four-year starter at Penn State from 1997-2001. The star guard still holds third position on the program’s all-time leading scoring list with 1,986 points. The former team captain is also fifth in assists (485) and fourth in three-pointers made (885).

After beginning his coaching career as an assistant for Rowan (2014-16), Crispin has spent the last six seasons as head coach of the Division III program. This past season, his Profs averaged a ridiculous 92.7 points per game.
Now, he’ll take his first Division I coaching gig with the team that he led to the Sweet 16 back in 2001.
After a solid run to the Big Ten Tournament final, this year Nittany Lions team made it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. This impressive performance saw now-former head coach Micah Shrewsberry land a new head coaching job with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
Rhoades took over as the program’s new head coach after Shrewsberry’s departure earlier this month.
