Every season it feels like the same 4-6 teams have a true shot at winning the College Football Playoff. But ESPN’s Heather Dinich believes there’s a pair of schools that could make a realistic run at a national championship in 2023.
Appearing on “First Take,” the longtime CFB writer mentioned two dark horses that she feels people are overlooking a bit this season.
‘Real Dark Horse…’ I would throw out Texas Tech because they could be a surprise in the Big 12. Boosters are pouring all kinds of money into that program. But, I would keep an eye on Penn State. … They have got a really good team. More depth on the offensive line than they’ve ever had before… Can they find a quarterback who can take them to the next level?

The Big Ten East is expected to be one of the most exciting races in college football this year.
Between Penn State, Ohio State and Michigan, there should be no shortage of drama down the stretch.
