It hasn’t been a good day at the office for Penn State head coach James Franklin on Saturday.
His team is playing Ohio State and has been calling a very conservative game on offense. It’s led the Nittany Lions to only score six points with only a few minutes left in the fourth quarter.
That, along with struggling to win another big game against a great team, has college football fans on social media upset with him.
“I could tweet this every single year when Penn State plays Ohio State and it would ring true. James Franklin is a great recruiter but an average Head Coach,” one fan tweeted.

Ok, I’m ready to call it.
We sold you all a case of snake oil, should have known better, and I’m embarrassed that we didn’t have the brains or insight to see this for what it was.
James Franklin’s critics were right, and I was wrong. We’ve seen his ceiling, and we’re at it.

“We’re checking a lot of “James Franklin big game” boxes already,” another fan tweeted.

I’m so beyond done with James Franklin man. We’ll never win a big game vs a ranked opponent with him

James Franklin.
Great recruiter.
Medicore football coach.
Big game LOSER.
Another 11-2 season with the meaningless New Year’s 6 Bowl Game victory incoming.#PennState

“My god is James Franklin brutal in the big games,” another tweet read.

Give me any reason why James Franklin should keep his job and I’ll tell you why you’re wrong. He’s literally never won anywhere he’s gone. He beats up on shitty teams but gets embarrassed by Michigan and Ohio state every year. Oh he won a rose bowl last year against Utah’s backup

Assuming the Nittany Lions go on to lose this game, it will be their seventh straight loss to the Buckeyes.
