NBC has revealed its first primetime college football broadcast of the 2023 season.
On Saturday, September 2, the network will provide national TV coverage for a highly-anticipated matchup between West Virginia and Penn State.
NBC announced this news during its coverage of the Kentucky Derby on Saturday.
“Season Opener. Saturday Night. Happy Valley. #WeAre,” Penn State football shared in an announcement of its own.

This first NBC broadcast of the 2023 season will take place in one of college football’s greatest environments — a night game in Happy Valley. Beaver Stadium will be absolutely rocking when the game kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET.
This game marks Penn State’s first home-opening night game since the Nittany Lions hosted Miami in 2001. It’s also the program’s first game broadcast on NBC since they faced off against Notre Dame in 2006.
This will be Penn State’s first matchup against West Virginia since 1992. The Nittany Lions dominate the all-time series against the Mountaineers with a 48-9-2 record.
Penn State is listed at No. 8 in ESPN’s early preseason top-25.
