It didn’t take long for Penn State freshman Mega Barnwell to leave the program.
According to reports, the four-star tight end is out after enrolling early with the program at the top of the year, arriving in Happy Valley in January and playing in the team’s Blue-White Game.
Barnwell initially committed to the Nittany Lions back in June of 2020 before decommitting the following year, only to recommit in fall of 2021.

Measuring at 6-foot-6, 269-pounds, Barnwell was listed as a TE but coach James Franklin was open to exploring whether or not the Virginia native was more of a receiving option or offensive lineman.
At the time, Barnwell was expected to be a big part of Penn State’s 2023 recruiting class. But now, his roster profile is no longer published on the school’s website.
Barnwell didn’t record a catch in his Beaver Stadium debut and since he’s not a graduate transfer, he’ll now have to wait until the end of the regular season to enter the portal.
