In just two years at the helm, Micah Shrewsberry has breathed new life into the Penn State basketball program. But amid tons of interest from other programs, will the Nittany Lions commit to him long-term?
Of course they will. And it appears that they already have.
According to CBS Sports basketball insider Jon Rothstein, Penn State are preared to make “a significant, long-term financial commitment” to Shrewsberry as soon as the team finishes their season.
Penn State dominated Texas A&M yesterday for their first NCAA Tournament win in over 20 years. They’ll be playing Texas in the Second Round on Saturday.

Micah Shrewsberry played college basketball at Hanover and went into coaching soon after graduating. In 2005 he was hired as head coach of IU-South Bend at the age of 29.
Shrewsberry joined Brad Stevens’ staff at Butler in 2007, joining the Bulldogs for their back-to-back national title runner-up seasons and later following Stevens to the Boston Celtics.
Shrewsberry was hired as head coach of the Nittany Lions in 2021 but went 14-17 in his first year. The 2022-23 season saw Penn State make a huge jump, going 19-12 in the regular season and reach the Big Ten Championship Game.
