The Penn State Nittany Lions suffered a tough season-ending injury loss less than one month out from their home opener vs. West Virginia.
Per The Athletic’s Audrey Snyder, defensive end Smith Vilbert looks like he will miss the entirety of the year after playing in just one game for the team last season.

The nature of Vilbert’s injury is unclear at this time, but it’s enough that he’s already being ruled out for the remainder of the 2023-24 schedule.
Vilbert saw his only 2022 action against Utah in the Rose Bowl. However, one of his best seasons at Penn State came the year prior when he recorded three sacks and four TFLs.
Vilbert was rated as a 3-star prospect coming out of high school where he ranked 14th in the state of New Jersey and 38th at his position nationally.
Hopefully the senior can continue his career once he works himself back.
