Penn State’s Micah Shrewsberry has been one of the hottest coaching names in the Big Ten, leading many to believe he’ll drew interest after the season.
Asked if he’ll be the Nittany Lions coach next season, Shrewsberry reportedly fumbled around a bit before settling on “I don’t know.”
The sports world reacted to the coach’s balked reply on Wednesday.
“Instead of will you be coaching at Penn State next year, the Sawatsky question would be: ‘Where will you be coaching next year?'” said John Gasaway. “Google the sage, John Sawatsky.”
“Uh… that’s certainly an answer,” tweeted Dan Wolken.
“Micah Shrewsberry was asked a direct question and gave an honest answer in real-time. See… it’s really not that hard folks. I promise it’s really not.”
“At least he is honest,” replied Paul Zeise. “I can live with ‘I don’t know’ because that is at least an answer unlike ‘I am focused on my team I love my players we are trying to win a game…'”
“Micah is about as honest and no BS of a person as I have ever met doing this. Basically incapable of lying,” reported Jeff Goodman. “Bottom line is that he doesn’t know yet. Might have Georgetown offer, might have Notre Dame offer. Might stay at Penn State.”
Shrewsberry led Penn State to a 22-13 record this season and a 10 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
