The 6-foot-2 junior is averaging 11.9 points and 3.2 assists for No. 16 Duke, but missed Saturday’s win over Boston College with the toe injury.
Scheyer also praised Pitt coach Jeff Capel, also a former Duke player and assistant, with turning things around. The Panthers are 11-5, 4-1 in the ACC.
Capel “has done an amazing job with his team, they’re together, they’re tough,” Scheyer said. “I know he’ll have them ready and they’re as hot as any team in our league.”
He added: “Cape has done an amazing job collectively bringing in the right pieces…He did what was best for his team and this is their chance to win. You can see they have incredible belief and they’re all about the right things.”
