Pitt travels to Tallahassee looking to avenge an earlier defeat
Game Time: 12:00 PM
Opponent: Florida State
Head Coach: Leonard Hamilton (21st Season)
Conference: ACC
Current Record: 8-17 (6-8)
Last Game: 67-76 L vs Syracuse
Top Player: G Darin Green (14.1 ppg)
KEYS TO THE GAME:
- Stop Green – Darin Green made 5-8 threes in the previous matchup with the Panthers. His 3.1 threes made per game are 2nd in the ACC. He made another five against the Orange, but needed 17 attempts to do it.
- Pull McLeod away from basket – Naheem McLeod, a 7’4” center from Philadelphia, was pulled from the starting lineup midway through the season, but has played well off the bench of late. He had a career-high 16 points on 7-9 shooting last game. He’s averaging 1.3 blocks per game, but this is in only 14 minutes a night. I’d like to see Pitt use the Diaz-Graham twins to help unclog the lane for Cummings, Burton, and Sibande to have more room for unaltered attempts.
PREDICTION:
Florida State keeps it close to the end but Pitt’s late-game toughness is the difference once again. Pitt by 6.
