For the fifth time in nine years, Nebraska’s volleyball team is heading to the national championship game.
Last night the Huskers volleyball team pummeled Pitt in the NCAA Volleyball Championship National Semifinal to clinch their spot in the title game. They will now play defending national champion Texas at the Amalie Arena in Florida this Sunday.
The Huskers trounced the Panthers, winning 3-0 with scores of 25-20, 25-23 and 25-17. Hours later, Texas beat Wisconsin 3-1 to secure their place in the national title game too.
Last year the Huskers were eliminated in the NCAA regional final. But the year before they were the national runner-ups against Wisconsin.

Nebraska volleyball has enjoyed a new golden age under head coach John Cook. In 24 years he’s won four national titles, led them to three runner-up finishes and finished ranked in the top-10 all but two times.
This year’s team is 33-1 and with a win over the Longhorns on Sunday would finish 34-1 – their best record since their 34-0 national title in 2000 – Cook’s first year with the program.
Will Nebraska finish the job against Texas this weekend?
