Cyprus is an island country located in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea. AEL plays in the top division and the club has quite the history. The club nicknamed “The Queen” holds the record for the number of national championships and Super Cups won. It is the only basketball club in Cyprus to have ever clinched a European title, having won the FIBA Regional Challenge Cup in 2003. Their last championship was in the 2006/07 season and was their fifth in a row before dissolving in 2013 for economic reasons.
Cummings played this summer at Team New York in Eurobasket Summer League in Las Vegas. In 34 ESL games, he averaged 11.3ppg and 4.8apg which almost identically matches the 11.1ppg and 4.8apg Cummings averaged in his lone season in Pittsburgh. A leader on the floor for the Panthers, the 6-foot guard helped spark the most successful Pitt season in the Jeff Capel era while leading the team to the NCAA tournament for the first time in seven seasons.
