Pitt Panthers add a former four star quarterback from western Pennsylvania
Things move fast in the transfer portal world of college football and today was a prime example. Within hours of Kedon Slovis entering the portal, the Pittsburgh Panthers moved quickly and will now reportedly fill the void at quarterback with Phil Jurkovec from Boston College. ESPN’s Pete Thamel was the first to break the news.

For Pitt, the third time is the charm of finally bringing Jurkovec to campus. The Panthers struck out back in 2018 when Jurkovec decided to commit to Notre Dame and again when the quarterback entered the transfer portal and committed to Boston College. This will be his final season of eligibility and comes as little surprise after hinting at the possibly move last week. Jurkovec played under Frank Cignetti at Boston College and the two still have a strong relationship that made Pitt the leading team to land the quarterback. This also comes at a time where scheduling changes to the ACC will have Pitt and Boston College face each other as yearly rivals. This will give Jurkovec a chance to play against his former team next season.
Jurkovec lost some time due to injuries in 2021 and 2022 was a step back for the Boston College program in every way. Jurkovec still was able to throw for 5,183 yards and 35 touchdowns with the Eagles. With this news, the next portal domino might be Nick Patti, who is a redshirt senior with one final year of eligibility.
