Pitt flips Dieffenbach from UNLV to add to the 2023 class
The news for the quarterback room for the Pittsburgh Panthers was fast and furious on Monday. With Slovis leaving through the transfer portal and Phil Jurkovec coming through the portal from Boston College, Pitt still was looking to add a quarterback in the recruiting class of 2023. While losing Minchey was a blow for the Panthers they have been able to pivot and ended up with a flip of their own. 2023 three-star quarterback Ty Dieffenbach has committed to Pitt after de-committing from UNLV on the same day.

Dieffenbach is from Agoura Hills, California, stands at 6’5, and is currently the 96th-ranked quarterback according to 24/7 Sports. Highlights from Dieffenbach’s senior season can be seen below.
With the addition of Dieffenbach the current quarterback room now stands at four players. Phil Jurkovec and Nick Patti each are on their final season of eligibility. Nate Yarnell is a redshirt freshman with eyes on the future and now comes in Dieffenbach. It remains to be seen if Nick Patti will stay or if he will now enter the portal as well with Jurkovec arrival to Pittsburgh. It wouldn’t be surprising to see Pitt still keeping an eye on the transfer portal to add one more quarterback to the roster.
