Lets take a look at how some Pitt Panthers are performing on Sundays
Week 13 was another step closer to the Super Bowl for some NFL teams, and a week closer to looking at Pitt players to take in the 2023 NFL Draft but let’s take a look at how some former Pittsburgh Panthers did this past week.
Offense:
Kenny Pickett: Many Steelers fans have been very skeptical of what Kenny Pickett would bring to the Steelers offense, and for the first few weeks it seemed like the answer would be not a lot. However, in recent weeks the offense has gotten into a groove and Pickett has shown much improvement. To say that his play this week was superstar-level would be a lie but going 16 for 28 with 197 yards and a touchdown was enough to propel the Steelers past the Atlanta Falcons 19 – 16. The Steelers next play the Baltimore Ravens in Acrisure Stadium at 1 pm on Sunday.

Tyler Boyd: To say that this season has felt off for Tyler Boyd would be an understatement. Now the fact that he is not the main target in the Bengal’s offense probably has a lot to do with this, but it does not mean he is not getting any plays at the ball. Against Kansas City, Boyd had 5 targets and caught 4 of them for 60 yards but did not have a touchdown in the win. This week the Bengals will battle their cross-state rivals in the Cleveland Browns on Sunday at 1 pm.
Defense:
Aaron Donald: This week, sadly, did not see Aaron Donald hit the field for the Los Angeles Rams against Seattle due to an ankle injury. The injury will not require surgery, but Donald is currently listed as week to week. The Rams will battle the Raiders on Thursday Night Football at 8 PM.
Damarri Mathis: As has been said all season long, Damarri Mathis has balled out on defense for the Denver Broncos, but the offense has not backed up his play. Week 13 was no different. Mathis had 6 tackles against the Ravens but the offense did not put up the points to allow a win, as the Broncos lost 10-9. The Broncos will battle the Chiefs this week on Sunday at 4:05 pm.
Jordan Whitehead: Jordan Whitehead has had a very impressive season to date, but he put up his most impressive performance this week against the Vikings. He collected 11 total tackles, 8 solo, and 3 assists. This was the most tackles he has had in a game all season. The Jets battle the Buffalo Bills on Sunday at 1 pm, and if Whitehead’s performance against another potent offense is any indication, he may have another impressive game.
