Pitt finishes its non-conference schedule against North Florida. And thus ends the more challenging game preview posts in which I have to learn about teams like North Florida. Thankfully, some things are still the same from the last time they played. Their coach, Matthew Driscoll, is from Bellevue and graduated from Slippery Rock. He’s led the Ospreys to one NCAA Tourney appearance (back in 2015). The coolest thing about North Florida athletics is they have a yearlong competition with Jacksonville across all sports called the River City Rumble. The winner gets a barrel. It was named in January 2006 so the River City Rivalry came first.
What should we expect in the game? North Florida is an average offensive team but below average defensively. They are not good at rebounding or forcing turnovers. Seems like the perfect post finals week game.
Prediction: Pitt 75 North Florida 50
