The former Nittany Lions will be the second quarterback to transfer to Pitt

Not very long ago, there was a lot of uncertainty about what the Pittsburgh Panthers will do at the most important position in football. Once Kenny Minchey decided to de-commit and flip to Notre Dame and Kedon Slovis decided to enter the portal, There were only Nick Patti and Nate Yarnell in the room with limited options.

Pitt has worked the portal about as well as you can and was able to grab another quarterback after adding Phil Jurkovec from Boston College. This time they were able to grab Christian Veilleux from in-state rival Penn State.

Veilleux is a 6’4 quarterback that was a three-star prospect coming out of the 2021 recruiting class. Veilleux played in two games and completed 16-of-26 passes for 238 yards and 3 touchdowns back in 2021 for the Nittany Lions, but fell down the depth chart with Drew Allar joining the program in 2022. With three years of eligibility left, Veilleux has a great chance at seizing the starting quarterback role after Jurkovec’s lone season at Pitt.

This gives the Panthers a deep quarterback room after so much uncertainty leading into the off-season. The Panthers now have a veteran transfer, a young transfer, and were able to flip 2023 recruit Ty Dieffenbach. If Nate Yarnell ends up deciding to stay at Pitt, Frank Cignetti will have four scholarship quarterbacks in his room in 2023.
