One-fifth of the NCAA Tournament bids have been determined following yesterday’s action. The next round of automatic qualifiers won’t come until Saturday, but the ongoing ACC Tournament will be offering some huge matchups in their tournament quarterfinon Thursday.
At 12 pm ET on ESPN2, ACC regular season co-champion and top seed No. 14 Miami takes on Wake Forest. Jim Larranaga’s team reached the Elite Eight last year and have certainly secured their at-large bid regardless of the outcome, while the Demon Deacons probably need to win out to get their first bid since 2017.
At 2:30 pm ET on ESPN2, the No. 21 Duke Blue Devils begin their first ACC Tournament without Coach K in generations as they take on Pitt. Duke reached the Final Four last year while Pitt haven’t reached the NCAA Tournament since 2016.
At 7 pm ET on ESPN, No. 13 Virginia will try to decisively end North Carolina’s NCAA Tournament hopes. North Carolina got a boost with a win over Boston College yesterday, but last year’s NCAA runner-up could use a big win to solidify their case.
The nightcap game will feature a pair of 22-9 teams as Clemson takes on NC State. That game will be at 9:30 pm ET on ESPN.
