McDavid said it’s a “no-brainer” of a decision.
Connor McDavid said that it’s “such a no-brainer” that Penguins captain Sidney Crosby should also be Team Canada’s captain for the upcoming 2024 4 Nation’s Face-Off tournament next year.
McDavid was asked about the topic on Thursday ahead of tonight’s game between the Penguins and Oilers and said it should Crosby who wears the ‘C’ for the team.

“It should be Sid. It should be Sid for sure, that’s not even a question,” McDavid said. “It’s just how it should be. He’s Sidney Crosby and he’s been there so many times and he’s the guy. It’s not like I thought about it a lot, it’s just such a no-brainer.”
“He hasn’t changed at all. He has great year after great year, it’s so impressive to see,” McDavid added. “He’s someone that I grew up admiring and still do to this day.”
Crosby responded to McDavid’s comments by saying he appreciates what he said, adding that McDavid has also done so much for the Oilers and for Team Canada.
“I think anytime you’re looked to wear a letter, whether it’s a ‘C’ or an ‘A’ and be a part of Team Canada, it’s a great honor regardless,” Crosby said. “But I appreciate that.”
The 4 Nations Face-Off will be held in February in both Montreal and Boston and will feature teams from Canada, the United States, Sweden, and Finland.
