An early goal from Alex DeBrincat opened the scoring for Detroit before Blomqvist settled in while the Penguins stormed back to a 4-1 lead of their own.
After the game, Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan highlighted a number of milestones for his players, giving out ceremonial pucks to save.
Sullivan congratulated Anthony Beauvillier for his first two goals with the Penguins and Kevin Hayes for his first goal as a Penguin.
Blomqvist was then congratulated for his first NHL win.
“Unbelievable job in goal,” Sullivan said.
Sullivan then congratulated Evgeni Malkin for his 800th career assist.
Head Equipment Manager Jon Taglianetti then came into the room to give out the team’s victory helmet.
