The Penguins hold on this time for a victory over McDavid and Co.

Here are your Pens Points for this Friday morning…

The Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday night earned a 5-3 victory against Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers, snapping an overall four-game losing streak (0-1-3) and a seven-game streak to the Oilers (0-7-0) dating back to Dec. 1, 2021. [Trib Live Recap]

The ongoing drama out of Vancouver will likely reach its breaking point as we accelerate towards the trade deadline. The Penguins should at least call about star centerman Elias Pettersson. Could they or would they get him? Probably not. But, as Gretz articulates, you have to make a call at least. [PensBurgh]

Evgeni Malkin’s status remains a mystery, even after being labeled a game-time decision on Thursday night before the Edmonton game and ultimately not playing in the contest. [Trib Live]

The Penguins also unveiled their Quarter-Century Team on Thursday, highlighted by Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Marc-Andre Fleury and other integral franchise players from the last 25 years. [NHL]

Speaking of Crosby, he moved to ninth place on the NHL’s all-time scoring list after Thursday’s game. Registering an assist in the first period gave him his 1,642nd career point, putting him ahead of Colorado Avalanche legend Joe Sakic. [Yahoo!/AP]

News and notes from around the NHL…

Circling back to the Vancouver Canucks, it remains likely that one of Elias Pettersson or J.T. Miller will be traded by the team. Here are four other potential landing spots for Pettersson. [Sportsnet]
