Some history was made during the Penguins’ win over the Maple Leafs on Saturday. Head coach Mike Sullivan became the 21st coach in NHL history to reach 700 games with one franchise while captain Sidney Crosby tied Gordie Howe for fifth place in most assists with one franchise at 1,023. The Jacob Trouba era is over in New York. Trouba was traded to the Anaheim Ducks by the New York Rangers on Friday for defenseman Urho Vaakanainen and a fourth-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft. [NHL]
Following Trouba’s trade to the West Coast, some NHL players were reportedly bothered by the ongoing trade saga with the defenseman and his now-former team, with some hoping for a push to streamline the player protection process after the Rangers forced Trouba to accept a trade. [The Hockey News]
