
Crosby had the assist on Mitch Marner’s overtime game-winner.
Sidney Crosby continues to excel on the international stage for Team Canada and had 3 assists in his team’s 4-3 overtime win to open Wednesday night’s 4 Nations Face-Off tournament.
Crosby received Player of the Game honors for his 3-assist performance and Team Canada improves to a staggering record of 26-0 in Sid’s 26 last games at the international level.
Team Canada opened the scoring just 56 seconds into the contest with a vintage Crosby pass to set up Nathan MacKinnon on the power play before taking a 2-0 lead in the game.

Crosby’s second assist came on a pass to Mark Stone to give Team Canada a 3-1 lead.

Canada let their 3-1 lead slip away and the game went to overtime and that’s when Crosby’s third assist came as he fed Mitch Marner the puck, who then buried the game-winning shot.

After the game, Team Canada head coach Jon Cooper said Crosby “will go down as the greatest player to represent his country.”
Canada will be back in action on Saturday night when they play their second game of the tournament against Team USA. Puck drop is set for 8 p.m.
