The Pittsburgh Pirates have a talented rotation for the upcoming season.
The Pittsburgh Pirates are one of the teams flying under-the-radar as the rest of the league gets ready to report to their Spring Training posts.
However, one thing that stands out about the Pirates is their starting pitchers, led by reigning Rookie of the Year Paul Skenes.
Beyond Skenes, the Pirates have some talented arms, and Bleacher Report writer Joel Reuter believes the Buccos have something to work with this season.
Projected Starting Rotation
1. RHP Paul Skenes
2. RHP Mitch Keller
3. RHP Jared Jones
4. LHP Bailey Falter
5. RHP Johan Oviedo
IL: None
Quick Thoughts: Another wave of exciting young pitching talent is rising the ranks in the Pittsburgh system after Paul Skenes and Jared Jones found immediate success in the majors last year. Bubba Chandler (No. 28), Thomas Harrington (No. 86) and Braxton Ashcraft (Next 50) all found a place on B/R’s Top 100 prospect list, and all three could make their MLB debuts in 2025.
Other Internal Candidates: RHP Bubba Chandler, RHP Mike Burrows, RHP Braxton Ashcraft, RHP Thomas Harrington
Someone will have to step up beyond Skenes, but if the likes of Keller and Jones can stay healthy and if Chandler can emerge as the No. 2 he was intended to be, the Pirates could have one of the deeper rotations in all of baseball for the 2025 campaign.
