RHP Paul Skenes leads the Pirates rotation, followed by RHP Mitch Keller, LHP Bailey Falter, LHP Andrew Heaney, and RHP Carmen Mlodzinski. Mlodzinski made the team after Jared Jones was placed on the IL with right elbow discomfort.
David Bednar, Colin Holderman, and Dennis Santana return to the back end of the bullpen with four lefties and three righties. New acquisitions Caleb Ferguson, Tim Mayza, and Justin Lawrence all made the club after being acquired in the offseason.
The Pirates didn’t do much to address the lineup outside of Tommy Pham, but a full season of Oneil Cruz in the outfield, a healthy Ke’Bryan Hayes, and the emergence of Endy Rodriguez at catcher and first base are some of the main points of emphasis this season.
Andrew McCutchen returns for his 12th season with the Pirates.
The highest-paid player in Pirates history, Bryan Reynolds anchors the lineup as the No. 2 hitter and new right fielder for the Pirates.
