The Pittsburgh Pirates play at one of the best stadiums in Major League Baseball.
The Pittsburgh Pirates haven’t had much to root for as a franchise as of late, but they do have one of the best ballparks in Major League Baseball.
Bleacher Report writer Tim Kelly ranked all 30 parks in the league, and the Pirates’ PNC Park came in at No. 3 on the list.
What you may not have known is that the right field wall is 21 feet high, in honor of the number that Clemente wore during an 18-year career spent entirely with the Pirates. You can also see the yellow Roberto Clemente Bridge in the backdrop of the stadium, as the city honors the Hall of Famer.
Also cool about right field is that just beyond the 320-foot wall and bleachers is the Allegheny River, which is a target for left-handed power hitters:
The Pirates deserved criticism for removing Clemente’s logo, and owner Bob Nutting in general should just sell the team. However, there’s no question that PNC Park is one of the nicest in baseball.
The only two stadiums that ranked higher than PNC Park were Oriole Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore and Oracle Park, where the San Francisco Giants play their home games.
The backdrop alone makes PNC Park one of the best in the world, and it does take away from some of the struggles that the team has on the field when watching a game there.
