Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the MLB. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Pittsburgh Pirates fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to participate in the weekly emailed surveys.
Last week’s question asked what part of the Pirates on-field performance you felt was the worst. With the team off to a terrible start, there’s plenty bad out there to point to, but in particular, the bats and the bullpen have been off to ugly starts. We asked you, which ones of those has been worse so far. Here’s what you said:

Hitting takes it, in a tight race. And though the bats have been slightly better of late — the team is now hitting .197, which is up from the .170s last week — they’re still pretty atrocious overall. They’re 28th in average, 23rd in home runs, 25th in runs scored, and 28th in OPS.
The bullpen has been pretty bad too, converting just 2 of 6 official save opportunities, according to MLB.com, and while the bullpen is 20th overall in ERA and 23rd overall in WHIP, it’s Pittsburgh’s inability to hit consistently that permeates every aspect of the lineup and game outcomes. Definitely a close race, but I’m voting hitting too.
Thanks for voting. We’ll be back tomorrow with a new question.
