Will the Steelers continue to start Fields?
The Pittsburgh Steelers are 3-2 after two straight losses, the latest coming in a heartbreaker in the games final seconds to the Dallas Cowboys. The Steelers’ offense had arguably their worst performance this season, scoring just three points in the first half once again. Justin Fields went 15-of-27 for 131 yards and two touchdowns. And while those numbers won’t blow anyone away, Ben Roethlisberger says the team should continue to start Fields.
“I don’t think it’s time to pull the plug on Justin,” Roethlisberger said on Footbahlin’ with Ben Roethlisberger. “Did he have a great game? No. Did he have a bad game? No. Did he miss some things? Sure. But there were also some balls that were dropped. There were some protection issues. There are other things that were wrong with the offense besides Justin Fields. If you asked me right now, what do I think is gonna happen this week? I would stick with him.”
Fields has 961 passing yards, 172 rushing yards, and eight total touchdowns to just one interception. He currently ranks 16th in EPA per play, 15th in success rate, and seventh in CPOE.
