What’s your first round DL preference? Want to see Ashton Jeanty in the black and gold?
Welcome back to BTSC’s Friday night open thread:
- The overwhelming consensus (and rightfully so) is that the Steelers should draft a defensive lineman in the first round this year. If Derrick Harmon, Walter Nolen, Kenneth Grant, Tyleik Williams, T.J. Sanders, and Darius Alexander are all available at No. 21, who are you picking?
- Pittsburgh taking a quarterback at No. 83 is another common move in mock drafts, albeit a less popular one. But if the Steelers are dead set on one of Jaxson Dart, Jalen Milroe, Will Howard, Quinn Ewers, and Tyler Shough at that draft slot, who are you selecting, and what are the odds they turn into the franchise guy?
- This is a great draft to trade down in, but is there any (non-quarterback) player you’d be willing to trade up for in the first round if the price is right?
- Running backs coach Eddie Faulkner was seen at Boise State’s pro day working out star running back Ashton Jeanty. No one doubts Jeanty’s talent but first-round running backs are not popular at BTSC. That said, what would the board have to look like for you to be OK with drafting Jeanty at No. 21 (if he’s there)?
- Another curveball: The Steelers have shown a surprising interest in some of the draft’s top safeties, with PennLive’s Nick Farabaugh noting Thursday that the team has been around Malaki Starks, Malachi Moore, Andrew Mukuba, Nick Emmanwori, Lathan Ransom, and Xavier Watts during the pro day circuit. In your option, what are the odds of Pittsburgh taking a safety high? And do you see the vision if so?
- I’ve been on an NPR Tiny Desk kick lately. What are your favorites? Other “live from the studio”-esque setups work if you’re not familiar with Tiny Desk.
BONUS: My song rec(s) of the night — in honor of question No. 6, some Tiny Desk faves (link, link, link, and link).
So, settle down for the weekend, share your food and drink of choice, and let’s talk some football… and March Madness.
