Pittsburgh Steelers fans believe their team could trade for an All-Pro wide receiver this offseason.
On Tuesday afternoon, San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk posted this message on X: “@CoachTomlin they saying we twins. What you think?”
This is Aiyuk’s first post on X since April 30, 2023. This could very well be a coincidence, but NFL fans aren’t buying it.
Aiyuk is set to enter the final year of his rookie contract. While the 49ers reportedly want to sign him to an extension, we can’t rule out the possibility of him ending up on the trade block.
With that said, Steelers fans can’t help but view Aiyuk’s tweet as a sign of him wanting to play for Mike Tomlin.
“Oh it’s happening,” a Steelers fan wrote. “Welcome to Pittsburgh.”
Another fan of the Steelers tweeted, “It’s happening y’all. We are so back.”
“I think I need to see Aiyuk in a Steelers uniform to really be sure,” a social media user commented.
Andrew Fillipponi of 93.7 The Fan reported that Pittsburgh “looked into” acquiring Aiyuk. It’s unclear if they discussed a trade with San Francisco.
Aiyuk was outstanding for the 49ers last season, hauling in 75 passes for 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns. He’d easily be the No. 1 option for Pittsburgh’s passing attack.
