For fans of the Pittsburgh Steelers who can’t get enough of offseason trade rumors and speculation, this latest report involving Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford and the Steel City is sure to grab attention.
Leading up to Super Bowl LIX, Stafford was granted permission by the Rams to explore potential trade interest, as well as negotiate a new contract.
According to insider Albert Breer, the Pittsburgh Steelers are one of several teams that have “thrown their hats in the ring” in pursuit of Stafford. The other teams mentioned were the Browns, the Giants, and the Raiders.
Breer explained that while Stafford enjoys playing for the Rams and head coach Sean McVay values him as the team’s signal-caller, the 37-year-old veteran’s contract demands may not align with Los Angeles’ long-term plans for its young roster.
If the Pittsburgh Steelers are serious about acquiring Stafford, reports suggest that a trade could cost them a first-round draft pick—a price that may be too steep for the Black and Gold to pay.
