The wider NFL world appears to have given up on Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson after his downhill seasons with the Denver Broncos. Not Ryan Leaf.
Appearing on Up & Adams, the football analyst declared that Wilson can still be a Super Bowl quarterback and believes that the Steelers will be a more dangerous team now that he’s leading the offense. Leaf asserted that Wilson will “shock a lot of people” while working with offensive coordinator Arthur Smith.
“Watch out for the Steelers,” Leaf said. “I think Russ has still every bit of being a Super Bowl champion quarterback in him. Nobody else does. I think he’s going to shock a lot of people with Arthur Smith and what they do with that offense.
“They were right there a year ago. But that division is so darn good.”
That’s a lot of confidence coming from Leaf.
Most would argue that the Steelers have the worst quarterbacks room in the AFC North. The Ravens have two-time MVP Lamar Jackson, the Bengals have Joe Burrow and the Browns have Deshaun Watson.
Some might even say that Wilson is the fifth- or even sixth-best quarterback in the division right now behind the likes of Justin Fields (Steelers) and Jake Browning (Bengals).
It will be up to Wilson to prove the doubters wrong.
