Mike Tomlin is a man of many words when he speaks to the media.
He has these “Tomlinisms” when he does his media press conferences and they always go viral on social media. He delivered another one this past Sunday when speaking to ESPN’s Brooke Pryor.
“I am fundamentally against comfort,” Tomlin said.
Tomlin doesn’t want to do the same things heading into every season. It’s why he was part of the decision-making process for gutting the quarterback room.
The Steelers had a quarterback room of Kenny Pickett, Mason Rudolph, and Mitch Trubisky during the 2024 season but all of them are now gone. Trubisky was released, Rudolph signed with the Tennessee Titans, and Pickett was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Their new quarterback room features Russell Wilson, Justin Fields, and Kyle Allen. Wilson was signed to a one-year deal right when free agency opened before they traded for Fields just a few days later.
Tomlin is hoping that these moves can help the Steelers win their first playoff game since 2016. It’s unusual for the Steelers to go almost a decade without winning a playoff game but they’re trying to put an end to that this season.
The Steelers finished the 2023 season with a 10-7 record before losing to the Buffalo Bills in the wild-card round.
