We break down the game day inactives as the Steelers face the Washington Commanders in Week 10.
We’re just under 90 minutes out from kickoff of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Week 10 matchup against the Washington Commanders, and both teams have officially announced their gameday inactives.
Here’s a look at the Steelers inactives for Week 10’s showdown against the Commanders.
Steelers inactives Week 10
- QB Kyle Allen (Emergency third QB)
- LB Nick Herbig (hamstring)
- WR Scotty Miller
- CB C.J. Henderson
- OG Max Scharping
The Steelers have several key players returning this week. Rookie center Zach Frazier and RB/KR Cordarrelle Patterson are each returning from ankle injuries. Frazier will resume his role as the starting center, sending backup Ryan McCollum back to the bench. Patterson, meanwhile, will resume his role as a complementary asset in the newly invigorated Steelers’ run game with Najee Harris leading the charge.
The Steelers have also officially activated Cam Sutton to the active roster, coming off an eight-game suspension for violation of the NFL’s personal conduct policy. Though he primarily played out of the nickel for most of his career in Pittsburgh, he got a lot of work at safety through training camp. Perhaps he will rotate into a role in the slot with Beanie Bishop Jr. and account for some rotation at safety following the release of former first-round pick Terrell Edmunds on Saturday.
New Steelers WR Mike Williams and OLB Preston Williams are both active and ready to make their debut in black and gold. Given their recent arrivals, it seems likely that both players will hold a fairly limited role in the offense right out of the gate.
Also notable is the return of Justin Fields this week, who was dealing with a hamstring injury and was inactive for Week 8 as the emergency QB ahead of the bye.
Commanders inactives Week 10
- QB Jeff Driskel (Emergency third QB)
- CB Marshon Lattimore (hamstring)
- OT Cornelius Lucas (ankle)
- RB Brian Robinson Jr. (knee)
- PK Austin Siebert (hip)
- S Dominique Hampton
- S Darrick Forrest
The Washington Commanders are going to be without several key players this week, which could be an advantage for the Steelers, including left tackle Cornelius Lucas (ankle) and RT Andrew Wiley who, though not listed on the inactives list, has been reported as out with a shoulder injury.
They’ll also be without starting kicker Austin Siebert, who’s been an integral point of their offense. He leads the league with 25 field goals made — the only player in the league with more field goals than Steelers’ own kicker, Chris Boswell. In his place, Zane Gonzalez will get the start, having been signed to the practice squad and subsequently elevated for today’s game. Gonzalez’ last start was back in the 2021 season, making 90.9% of his field goal attempts over 12 games with the Carolina Panthers.
Finally, they’ll be without starting running back Brian Robinson Jr. in this outing, which puts veteran Austin Ekeler in line for another start this week, coming off an 83-yard week (14 touches, 1 TD) up against this stout Steelers rushing defense.
