Last season the Pittsburgh Steelers traded wide receiver Diontae Johnson to the Carolina Panthers for cornerback Donte Jackson. Jackson started 15 games in 2024 and played well until the end of the season when the entire defense seemed to just give up.
Jackson is now headed to free agency and when general manager Omar Khan spoke to the media on Tuesday he definitely gave the impression that the team will not be attempting to re-sign him.
“It was a good experience with Donte,” Khan said.
Jackson led the Steelers with five interceptions in 2024 and for much of the year played well off of Joey Porter Jr. But the team also has Cory Trice Jr. who flashed some talent last season in a limited role and comes with a much lower price tag than Jackson will command on the open market.
