Pittsburgh Steelers rookie offensive lineman Troy Fautanu was a massive Steeler fan growing up.
He’d watch every game and he even had a licensed plate with the team logo around it.
Troy Polamalu was his favorite player and recently, Fautanu had the opportunity of a lifetime to talk with him. The two exchanged phone tags before Polamalu finally got ahold of him.
Polamalu is already a big fan of Fautanu’s and hopes that he can be a great Steeler for years to come.
“Carries himself with humility and plays with a lot of passion and violence, so I think that’s one thing the Steelers are going to be excited about,” Polamlau said, via WTAE. “I know it’s one thing that I’m excited about when I heard about this draft pick.”
Fautanu was picked in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft and is an instant plug-and-play guy for the Steelers.
He’ll start one of the two tackle spots while Broderick Jones gets the other. If he starts on the right side, that would allow Jones to play his natural position, left tackle.
Smash-mouth football is set to return to the Steelers for the next several seasons.
