The Pittsburgh Steelers find themselves in limbo in the first round of the 2025 NFL draft. Picking No. 21 overall puts them right on the edge of the top tier of talent in the draft at multiple positions. Several of those are positions of need for the Steelers.
But in this new mock draft The New York Times Dane Brugler, he walks the line for the Steelers and they catch a break in the first round. Brugler has the Steelers picking Ohio State wide receiver Emeka Egbuka. Here’s what Brugler had to say about the pick.
The Steelers have had mixed results betting on talented-yet-undisciplined receivers in the early rounds. It’s time to invest in a pass catcher such as Egbuka, who might not have a sky-high ceiling but already plays with a pro-level skill set and would be a dependable target for the next decade.
Egbuka is absolutely the best-case scenario for the Steelers with this pick whether the team holds only George Pickens or not.
In the second round, the Steelers get another great pick with Kentucky cornerback Maxwell Hairston. Hairston is another really solid player who would be great in a zone-heavy scheme.
