Here’s a look at who’s popped up on the injury report for the Steelers ahead of their Week 9 matchup against the New York Giants.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have issued their first practice report of the week ahead of their next primetime matchup up against the New York Giants. The game is set to kick off Monday at 8:15 p.m. ET, which means the black and gold will have an extra day of rest before heading to battle — good news for those dealing with the bumps and bruises of the season and other various injuries.
Here’s a look at the full Steelers practice report for Thursday October 24 ahead of Week 8’s showdown against the New York Giants.
Steelers injury report: Week 8 (Thursday)

The Steelers’ injury report for Week 9 was yet another busy one, with both positive and negative updates.
First, the good:
- RB Cordarrelle Patterson returned to practice after missing the past three games, possibly trending toward a return in Week 8.
- After a scare for a shoulder injury, it appears Donte Jackson will be ready to go this week, logging a full practice this week. Safety Damontae Kazee logged a full practice as well after missing Week 7 with an ankle injury.
- Linebacker Tyler Matekavich is making progress from a hamstring injury, logging a limited practice after having his 21-day practice window activated from IR. OL Dylan Cook is also in his 21-day window in his return from a foot injury. Metekavich, if healthy, could be an active contributor on special teams.
Now, the bad:
- Rookie WR Roman Wilson suffered a setback with the hamstring injury he suffered last week, Alan Saunders of SteelersNow reports. It’s seeming more and more likely that Wilson does not have a role in the offense through his rookie season — a tough break for a team that desperately needs depth at wide receiver.
- DT Keeanu Benton (calf) was limited with a new injury, though it’s a positive that he practiced at all. We’ll keep a close eye on his practice availability through the weekend.
- Neither LB Nick Herbig nor Zach Frazier returned to practice from their respective injuries.
