Wilson is getting closer to being fully healthy
The Pittsburgh Steelers’ quarterback room has been a topic of conversation ever since they signed Russell Wilson, and then subsequently traded Kenny Pickett and traded for Justin Fields.
Wilson has been dealing with a calf injury that began at the start of training camp. He played in the team’s final two preseason games, but the calf was re-aggravated which led to Fields getting the starting nod. That said, it looks like Wilson is getting close to being 100 percent.
During his weekly press conference, Mike Tomlin said that Wilson will be a full participant in practice Wednesday, but will do so with the second team to “Not disrupt Justin’s preparation.” That language would hint that it will be Fields again getting the start in Week 6.
Fields has started the team’s first five games of the season, totaling eight touchdowns thus far as the Steelers sit atop the AFC North with a 3-2 record.
