John Rhys Plumlee is tired of the speculation about a position change.
The Pittsburgh Steelers signed him as an undrafted free agent and will stay at quarterback despite speculation that he could move to running back.
“I felt like Pittsburgh committed more to me being able to play quarterback. They expressed that they believed I was a quarterback and that I fit their system, and would give me that opportunity,” Plumlee told Steelers Takeaways in an interview.

After playing at Ole Miss and UCF during his collegiate career, Plumlee was signed after the 2024 NFL Draft concluded.
He spent the first three seasons of his collegiate career at Ole Miss before transferring to UCF for the 2022 and 2023 seasons. He started in both seasons and threw for 4,857 yards through the air, 29 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions.
He compiled 5,838 yards, 34 touchdowns, and 19 interceptions throughout his career.
He’s QB4 on the roster right now, behind Russell Wilson, Justin Fields, and Kyle Allen.
He’ll have the chance to impress the Steelers’ brass during rookie minicamp, which starts this Friday and goes into the weekend.
