The former first round pick has been let go
The Pittsburgh Steelers made a handful of roster moves on Saturday ahead of their Week 10 matchup with the Washington Commanders. The most notable of which was the release of safety Terrell Edmunds. This is likely due to the fact that Cam Sutton has returned from suspension, and will likely play the dime-linebacker role that Edmunds had been playing, as well as likely taking over the majority of nickel cornerback reps. Edmunds was the team’s first-round pick in 2017, and really hit his stride in the 2020 and 2021 seasons before signing with the Philadelphia Eagles ahead of the 2023 season. He was then traded from Philadelphia to Tennessee before signing with the Jaguars this past offseason. He came back to Pittsburgh after being snagged off the Jaguars’ practice squad.
The Steelers also released running back Jonathan Ward and activated linebacker Tyler Matakevich and wide receiver Ben Skowronek to the active roster, the team announced.
