The Pittsburgh Steelers are reportedly looking at the top cornerback on the free agent and trade market.
Per Nick Farabaugh of SteelersNow.com, the Steelers are interested in Kansas City Chiefs cornerback L’Jarius Sneed.
Sneed is expected to be franchise-tagged by the Chiefs, meaning that if a team wants him, they’ll have to trade for him.
The Chiefs will try and work out a long-term contract with him but there’s no guarantee the two sides will come to an agreement, hence the Steelers being interested.
Farabaugh also reports that the Steelers want to upgrade their cornerback room and look at Sneed as a great fit.
Having him opposite of Joey Porter Jr. would improve the Steelers’ defense immensely. They lacked a true CB2 next to Porter Jr. this past season.
Sneed is fresh off helping the Chiefs win their second straight Super Bowl and had a tremendous season, compiling 78 total tackles, two interceptions, and 14 passes defended.
His 2022 season was even better with 108 total tackles, 3.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, three interceptions, and 11 passes defended.
We’ll see if the Steelers can swoop in and snag Sneed over the next several weeks.
