The Pittsburgh Steelers might be one of the busiest teams in the league right now.
In addition to releasing cornerback Patrick Peterson and meeting with quarterback Russell Wilson, they’re also expected to meet with former Buffalo Bills center Mitch Morse.
He’s scheduled to visit the team before free agency opens next Wednesday, per Joe Rutter.
He was cut by the Bills this past Wednesday after they made a good chunk of moves to try and get under the salary cap.
The Steelers’ interest in Morse makes a lot of sense since they need a new starting center. They haven’t been able to adequately replace Maurkice Pouncey since he retired after the 2020 season.
Mason Cole had been the guy for the past couple of seasons but he had issues blocking and snapping the ball.
If the Steelers can agree on a deal with Morse, they’ll have their new starting center and won’t have to draft one with one of their first two picks in the 2024 NFL Draft.
They’ll be able to fill other needs, such as cornerback, defensive line, or even wide receiver.
The 2024 NFL Draft is set to take place from Apr. 25-27.
