The Pittsburgh Steelers are going to have some new faces at wide receiver next season now that a release has opened up a spot in the starting lineup.
According to ESPN’s Field Yates, the Steelers have released wide receiver Allen Robinson. The move creates over $8 million in cap space for Steelers general manager Omar Khan to work with.
Robinson joined the Steelers in a pick swap with the Los Angeles Rams last April. But despite playing in all 17 games for them in 2023, he had just 34 receptions for 280 yards and never found the endzone.
It was Robinson’s worst season since his 2017 season with the Jaguars where he was held to only one reception in one game before a season-ending injury.
Robinson has struggled to make an impact over the past three seasons. Despite playing in 39 games over the past three years, he hasn’t had 40 receptions or 500 yards in any of them.
It’s a far cry from the back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons he enjoyed with the Chicago Bears between 2019 and 2020, or the Pro Bowl season he had with the Jacksonville Jaguars back in 2015.
Robinson should be able to find another team to play for before the 2024 season, but it will be surprising if he finds a team willing to give him starter reps, let alone starter money.
Who will Allen Robinson play for in 2024?
