After a few shaky weeks on the injury front, it seems as though the Steelers are finally trending in the right direction without any shocking updates heading into Week 8’s showdown against the Giants on Monday Night Football.
Two of those five players ruled out — C Zach Frazier and LB Nick Herbig — weren’t expected to return from their respective injuries this week, looking more likely to return after the Steelers’ Week 8 bye. Meanwhile, LB Tyler Matakevich and OT Dylan Cook haven’t officially been activated from injured reserve, each still in their 21-day practice window. Meanwhile, rookie Roman Wilson is inactive for the second consecutive week after making his NFL debut in Week 6. It’s looking more and more likely that this will be a redshirt season for the rook, having missed out on crucial reps at training camp after suffering an ankle injury, now followed by the hamstring issue. The team signed WR Andy Isabella to the practice squad, and it’s possible that Brandon Johnson gets activated again, having had previous experience with QB Russell Wilson with the Denver Broncos.
Expect Ryan McCollum to once again get the start at center in place of Frazier, while OLB Jeremiah Moon gets the bulk of snaps in place of Herbig.
