Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jaylen Warren had a curious comment about one of his former quarterbacks on Saturday.
During a live taping of Cam Heyward’s podcast at the Steelers draft party, Warren said it’s a “night-and-day” difference having Russell Wilson and Justin Fields in the building.
“Oh, it’s a night and day difference from last year. The leadership speaks volumes,” Warren said.
He likes what he’s seeing from both Wilson and Fields, compared to the leadership in the building last year from Kenny Pickett.
The Steelers signed Wilson when free agency opened and were preparing to open the season with him and Pickett before the latter got frustrated. It led to the team trading him to the Philadelphia Eagles and then trading for Fields.
Wilson will start the season as QB1 while Fields will be his backup.
Outside of the quarterback situation, Warren and Najee Harris will be back at running back while George Pickens will be their top wide receiver. Pat Freiermuth will also continue to be their starting tight end.
It’s an offense that has a lot of potential and will have a new play-caller in Arthur Smith.
