The Pittsburgh Steelers were just gifted one more reason to pass on giving Najee Harris a contract extension in 2025—the Miami Dolphins’ release of RB Raheem Mostert.
Mostert is arguably one of the fastest running backs in the NFL, having been recorded at 23.09 MPH back in 2020. Although that was nearly five years ago, the former Dolphins RB hit 21.62 MPH back in Week 2 of the 2024 regular season, further proving he still has plenty of speed left in the tank.
Despite being at the tail end of his career, the 32-year-old Mostert’s three seasons with the Dolphins were far better than any of his other seasons since entering the league in 2015.
Mostert signed with the Dolphins in 2022 and accumulated 1,093 yards from scrimmage. He would go on to break the 1,000-yard rushing mark and garner 21 total TDs in 2023—earning himself the first Pro Bowl selection of his career.
In 2024, Mostert took a backseat role to another explosive and lightning-fast RB, De’Von Achane, and started just one game—resulting in a down year.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are reportedly looking to bring speed to their RB room, and Mostert’s release from Miami should be the catalyst for creating a lightning-quick rushing attack.
