An offense that’s humming still has a secret weapon to unleash
It’s been nearly a month since QB Justin Fields played a snap for the Steelers offense. Fields started the black and gold’s week six tilt against the Las Vegas Raiders – and helped propel Pittsburgh to a 32-13 victory.
His passing was shaky, finishing just 14-24 for 145 yards through the air. He missed a few easy reads and open throws, which led to speculation on what would happen going forward. But like he often does, Fields made a huge impact with his legs, scampering for 59 yards and 2 TDs. This season he has five rushing TDs.
The next week against the New York Jets the Steelers made the switch to QB Russell Wilson – who is now 3-0 and has his team scoring over 30 points per game.
It would be strange however if Fields all of a sudden just disappears. He provides an element to this Steelers offense that is too important to stash away – especially in the red zone.

This past Thursday Steelers OC Arthur Smith was asked and revealed that the team does work on a package for Fields each week – but has yet to unleash it.
“It’ll be ready to go when we need it,” Smith told reporters.
“I’m very confident when we break it out, it will make a difference.”
Maybe the Steelers are just trying to keep their opponents on their toes. But today against the Baltimore Ravens (-3), as a home underdog, and with first place on the line in the AFC North – it’s time to break it out.
